Albert McCarthy Boateng, professionally known as Awaga, is a Ghanaian record producer, sound engineer and disc jockey. Early life Boateng Albert was born on August 20, 1994. Career Awaga began his career in 2014, combining beat making with side mixing and mastering. He has worked with artists such as Stonebwoy and R2Bees. Awakenings (opera)

Awakenings is an opera in two acts composed by Tobias Picker, with a libretto by Aryeh Lev Stollman. Based on Awakenings, Oliver Sacks’ 1960’s chronicle of his efforts to help the victims of an encephalitis epidemic, the opera was commissioned by the Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, and premiered on June 5, 2022. The East Coast premiere of Awakenings was performed by Odyssey Opera in partnership with Boston Modern Orchestra Project, conducted by Gil Rose and directed by James Robinson, on February 25, 2023, at the newly renovated Huntington Theater. Roles Development Picker originally met Oliver Sacks at a dinner party. Picker, whose Tourette’s syndrome went undiagnosed until he was in his thirties, was interested in Sacks’s opinion of his symptoms. Soon becoming close friends, Picker and Sacks served as mutual inspirations for one another: Picker was interested in Sacks’s intellect and compassion, while Sacks was fascinated by Picker’s creativity, Tourette’s, and musicianship. Awilda Villarini

Awilda M. Villarini-Garcia (born 6 February 1940) is a Puerto Rican composer and pianist who publishes and performs under the name “Awilda Villarini.” Villarini was born in Patillas. Her first piano teacher was her mother, who was a church organist. She went on to earn a B. Mus. (1961) from Peabody Conservatory and a M. Mus. (1973) from the Juilliard School. Grants from the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture enabled Villarini to study piano in Paris and Vienna. She received a Ford Foundation scholarship for a Ph.D. from New York University in 1979. Villarini’s teachers included Claus Adam, Jean Marie Darre, Carmelina Figureoa, Alexander Gorodnitzky, William Kroll, Eugene List, Walter Panhofer, and Dieter Weber. Villarini received a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts in 1981.
