Gian Paolo Chiti (21 January 1939 – 27 March 2026 ) was an Italian composer and pianist. His teachers included Carlo Zecchi, Arturo Bonucci, and Arturo Benedetti Michelangeli. In 1960, Chiti won prizes in the Treviso and the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition. Chiti has had a dual career as a composer and concert pianist. He often performed alongside his late wife, mezzo-soprano Patricia Adkins Chiti. He composed works for film and television as well as concerts and festivals in Italy and abroad. His compositions have featured at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Venice Biennale, the Edinburgh International Festival, and the Lutosławski Festival. Since 1984, Chiti has served as the Director of the Composition Department at the Conservatorio of Santa Cecilia in Rome. He is also a member of the Italian National Committee for Dance and serves on the faculty boards of several universities.
