Guy Michelmore

Guy Alford Michelmore (born August 1957) is an English film and television composer and former television news presenter. Early life Guy Alford Michelmore was born in August 1957. Michelmore is the son of BBC presenters Cliff Michelmore and Jean Metcalfe. His mother Jean was the presenter of Family Favourites and Woman’s Hour. His father Cliff was best known for the BBC television programme Tonight. Cliff once interviewed himself, and asked whether either his son or daughter had shown any interest in television – Cliff answered by saying that ten-year-old Guy was “at that point where he is fascinated and interested in all things… even his father’s job!” Michelmore was educated at the independent St John’s School in Leatherhead, Surrey and Pembroke College, Oxford. News presenter Michelmore began reporting on Anglia TV’s About Anglia before joining the BBC programme Newsroom South East in 1993. He left the programme to be replaced by Tim Ewart from ITN. Michelmore famously spilt his drink all over himself and his desk before going into a live link on Newsroom South East. The incident was shown on the BBC’s Auntie’s Bloomers outtakes show.
