About Music Theory Print
Free music theory tools and printable worksheets that run in your browser. How the site is made, where its data comes from and who runs it.
Music Theory Print is a free set of music theory tools, printable worksheets and charts. It is for students, teachers, parents and self-taught musicians who want something that works straight away, without an account.
What you will find here#
- Tools: a metronome, tap tempo, a chord identifier, a scale finder, a chord transposer, a virtual piano, an interval ear trainer and more. They run in your browser.
- Worksheets: generators for printable music theory worksheets. Each press of “New worksheet” makes a fresh sheet and its answer key.
- Charts, keys, instruments and the chord library: reference pages you can read or print.
How the content is made#
- Tools run in your browser. The calculation happens on your own device; what you type into a tool is not sent to us. See the privacy policy for the few things the site does store.
- Worksheets are generated by programs, with answers computed from the same data as the questions. Answer keys are produced by the generator, not typed in by hand, and the code is checked against independent calculations before it is published.
- Reference text is adapted from open sources, not invented. Explanations of theory concepts, composers and genres are excerpted from Wikipedia and similar open sources, with a link to each original. Facts such as dates and places come from Wikidata. Charts and tables are computed from the underlying theory (for example, fingering charts are derived from the harmonic series and then compared with published tables).
- Every source and licence is listed on the credits page. That page says which material is under CC BY-SA, which is CC0 or public domain, and which is our own.
If you find a mistake, please tell us through the contact page. Corrections to a worksheet answer or a chart are the most useful reports.

Advertising#
